General description

OL-protocadherin (OL-pc, protocadherin 10) is a transmembrane protein and a member of the cadherin superfamily, which is characterized by its members’ abilities to undergo interactions that are homophilic in nature via their extracellular domain. Several protocadherins have been observed within the nervous system, and a few have been shown to localize at synapses. With OL-pc, the homophilic binding has been shown to stimulate cell aggregation when the protein is introduced into cadherin-deficient cells. Although the function of OL-protocadherin has yet to be elucidated, studies have shown OL-pc to be necessary to axonal normal projection through the ventral telencephalon, where OL-pc shows highest expression at the striatal region.

Specificity

The antibody recognizes the cytoplasmic domain of OL-protocadherin.

Immunogen

Epitope: Cytoplasmic domain
GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to the cytoplasmic domain of mouse OL-protocadherin.

Application

Anti-OL-protocadherin Antibody, clone 5G10 is an antibody against OL-protocadherin for use in WB, IC, IH.
Immunofluorescence Analysis: The antibody has been shown to detect OL-protocadherin in IF. (Nakao, 2008).

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: The antibody has been shown to detect OL-protocadherin in IH. (Aoki, 2003).

One of the notable characteristics of the functional localization in the cerebellar cortex is the dual representation of the body (somatotopy) on its anterior-posterior axis. This somatotopy is conspicuous in the C1/C3 module, which is demarcated as the multiple zebrin-negative
