General description
Whey proteins isolated from bovine milk plays a vital role in regulating immune responses. β-lactoglobulin is one of the highly expressed proteins in the bovine whey.
Application
Whey from bovine milk has been used:
- to test the efficacy of UV-C, nonthermal plasma and high intensity ultrasound treatments in reducing its allergenicity
- to determine its specific IgE, IgA and IgG subclass antibodies by sensitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method
- as a component in the preparation of chitosan/whey protein (CWP) film forming solution
