PromoCell® Primary Cell Pellets

Primary Cell Pellet Product Description and Applications

PromoCell Cell Pellets are stored in RNAlater® reagent, an aqueous protection solution that rapidly permeates the cells and stabilizes cellular DNA, RNA, and proteins and protects them from degradation, making them useful for a wide range of research applications like gene expression analysis, cell characterization studies, and protein characterization experiments. Each cell pellet consists of approximately 1 million cells and is suspended in 200 µL RNAlater® solution. Cell Pellets have the same characteristics as the cell lots from which they are released, such as expression profile or cell type- specific antigens. On request, viable cells from the same lot are available for cultivation.

Note: RNAlater® solution denatures proteins. Therefore, proteins isolated from cell pellets will be suitable for applications such as Western blotting or 2D gel electrophoresis, but not for applications that require proteins in native conformation. Because of the density of RNAlater® solution, greater centrifugal forces are required to pellet cells. We recommend transferring the contents of the pellet vial into a 15 mL conical tube with an equal volume of PBS, followed by centrifuging the cells at 5000 x g for 10 minutes at 4° C. Alternatively, cells in RNAlater® Solution can be used directly for RNA extraction. Because of the increased volume (200 µL), this method generally requires additional lysis solution.

Storage and Stability of Primary Cell Pellets

Cell pellets can be stored indefinitely at -20° C, and for up to 1 month at 4° C.

Note: The cell pellets will not be frozen when maintained at -20° C. Always centrifuge product briefly before opening vial.

Primary Cell Pellet Corresponding Cell Lot and Media Quality Control

Rigid quality control tests are performed for each lot of the corresponding cells. They are tested for cell viability, cell morphology, growth performance and for cell type-specific markers. In addition, every lot of media are tested for the absence of microbial contaminants (fungi, bacteria, mycoplasma).

Intended Use for Primary Cell Pellets

These products are for in vitro use only and not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
