General description

(+)-Sodium L-ascorbate is a sodium salt of ascorbic acid.

Application

Sodium ascorbate has been used as a reference standard for the determination of sodium ascorbate in polyvitaminated premixes utilized for the fortification of infant nutrition products by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) combined with ultra-violet (UV) detection and in pharmaceutical formulations by RP-ion pair LC method. (+)-Sodium L-ascorbate may be used as an analytical standard for the identification and quantification of (+)-sodium L-ascorbate as a ferric ion chelator (FIC) by HPLC post-column method with fluorescence detection.
