General description

Neurotensin receptor 3 or sortilin (the intracellular sorting protein 95 kDa) is a member of a family of receptors characterized by a single transmembrane domain, a short intracytoplasmic domain, and a long cysteine-rich luminal extracellular domain. This receptor has been found in the brain, spinal cord, muscle and other peripheral cell types, and in cancer cells. Sortilin exhibits sequence similarities with proteins involved in intracellular transport and trafficking.

Specificity

Sortilin (Neurotensin receptor 3). By Western blot the antibody recognizes a strong band at ~90 kDa in extracts of NSC34 cells. By immunohistochemistry the antibody intensely stains motor neurons within the rat spinal cord.

Immunogen

Recombinant protein from the extracellular domain of human sortilin.

Application

Anti-Sortilin Antibody is an antibody against Sortilin for use in WB, IH.
Western blot: 1:1,000-1:2,000 on extracts from NSC34 cells.
Immunohistochemistry: 1:500-1:1,000 on rat spinal cord.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Physical form

Lyophilized. Reconstitute with 50 μL of sterile distilled water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.

Storage and Stability

Maintain lyophilized material at -20 to -70°C for up to 12 months after date of receipt. After reconstitution maintain at -20°C in undiluted aliquots for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Glycerol (ACS grade or better) can be added 1:1 for additional stability.

To characterize the role of neurotrophin receptors on macrophages, we investigated the ability of nerve growth factor (NGF) and its precursor, proNGF, to regulate human macrophage phenotype. The p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75(NTR)) and TrkA were concentrated within overlapping domains on
