General description

Carbamyl phosphate disodium salt (CPC) is an important reagent in organic synthesis due to its ability to activate carboxylic acids and convert them to their corresponding mixed anhydrides. It is used in the synthesis of cyclic peptides and macrocycles by activating carboxylic acids and facilitating cyclization reactions.

Application

  • Carbamoyl phosphate and its substitutes for the uracil synthesis in origins of life scenarios: This study explores the role of carbamoyl phosphate disodium salt in the prebiotic synthesis of uracil, a fundamental component of RNA, under early Earth conditions (LMP Ter-Ovanessian et al., 2021).
  • Building the uracil skeleton in primitive ponds at the origins of life: carbamoylation of aspartic acid: Further investigations into the prebiotic significance of carbamoyl phosphate, demonstrating its potential to interact with aspartic acid to form uracil in early Earth scenarios (LMP Ter-Ovanessian, JF Lambert, MC Maurel, 2022).
