General description

Supelite DAX-8 is a nonfunctionalised resin with strong hydrophobic organic matter endorsed to humic and fulvic acids. It is also referred as polymethylmethacrylate resin.

Application

Supelite DAX-8 was used as an absorbent in:
  • HPLC-SEC fractionation system
  • column chromatography
  • extraction procedure and extracts were analysed using Cary Eclipse fluorescence spectrophotometer
Adsorbent resin with moderate polarity for compounds up to 150,000 MW. Most commonly used for adsorption of fulvic and humic acids, treatment of paper pulp mill waste, and removal of alcohols, surfactants, and colorants from samples.

Preparation Note

DAX-8 is a salt imbibed resin, which requires some preparation prior to use. In the protocol below, you may use methanol in place of ethanol.
  • First, rinse the adsorbent resin with 2-3 bed volumes (BV) of distilled water.
  • Soak overnight in 2 BV of 95% ethanol.
  • After soaking, the resin is introduced into the column and rinsed with an additional 2 BV of 95% ethanol.
  • Rinse with 2 BV of distilled water to displace the ethanol, followed by 1 BV of 4% (w/v) sodium hydroxide, 2 BV of distilled water, 1 BV 4% (v/v) hydrochloric acid, and finally by distilled water until the pH of the eluent becomes neutral.

CRISPR-Cas9 proteins function within bacterial immune systems to target and destroy invasive DNA and have been harnessed as a robust technology for genome editing. Small bacteriophage-encoded anti-CRISPR proteins (Acrs) can inactivate Cas9, providing an efficient off switch for Cas9-based applications.
