Activating transcription factor 5 (ATF5) belongs to the ATF/cAMP response element-binding protein family. It is an anti-apoptotic protein that has 282 amino acids and is located on human chromosome 19q13. It is expressed in various cancers like prostate, rectal, colon, endometrium, breast, ovary, pancreas, gastric etc.
Anti-ATF5 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total ATF5 protein.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human ATF5.
Immunogen Range: 221-270
Biochem/physiol Actions
Activating transcription factor 5 (ATF5) participates in metabolite homeostasis, cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and regulation of the cell cycle. It controls neural progenitor cell and adipose-derived stem cell differentiation.

Cellular stress response mechanisms normally function to enhance survival and allow for cells to return to homeostasis following an adverse event. Cancer cells often co-opt these same mechanisms as a means to evade apoptosis and mitigate a state of constant
