Application

Used in antibiotic assay work (USP, FDA, Ph. Eur.) according to Grove & Randall; recommended as a base layer in the cylinder assay of e.g. penicillin and aureomycin, for the plate assay and the turbidimetric assay of bacitracin.

Preparation Note

Suspend 25.5 g in 1 litre of distilled water, heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize in the autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
