Ankit Tanwar: My Next Great Impossible

Ankit Tanwar

Dr. Ankit Tanwar is a Staff Scientist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. He took us through his work to understand new immunoregulatory pathways and to develop novel cell therapy for cancer patients.

“These novel pathways are crucial targets in a range of human cancers…"

I currently work to understand the role and function of new immunoregulatory pathways, including HHLA2/TMIGD2/KIR3DL3, identified by Prof. Xingxing Zang and on developing a novel CAR T-cell therapy for cancer patients. These novel pathways are crucial targets in a range of human cancers. I work to understand their mechanisms to define new biomarkers and upgrade current immunotherapies.

“…the only thing that separates success from failure is one final attempt.”

To carry out novel research, it is critical to remain highly motivated with a positive mindset. Often, the only thing that separates success from failure is one final attempt, and it is your dedication and motivation that turns your experiment into a unique discovery.

“…so my Next Great Impossible can go beyond our research lab.”

My family and friends have always encouraged me to think big and achieve my goals. In the lab, my mentors Prof. Xingxing Zang, Dr. Alex Sica, and Prof. Pamela Stanley support me by providing a platform to showcase and refine my skills so my Next Great Impossible can go beyond our research lab.
