cis/trans FAME Column Performance Mix (40495-U)

Description

Analysis Note

Complex mixtures of cis/trans FAME isomers are difficult to separate. Baseline resolution may not be possible for some samples due to variation in GC instrument designs and column efficiencies. As a result, AOAC Method Ce 1h-05 recommends monitoring changes in column performance with a known FAME mixture closely matching the range of fatty acids under investigation.

The resolution factor for Peak 1 and Peak 2 of this mix (40495-U) is a good indicator of colum performance. Using one of the resolution equations listed on the Data Sheet, the resolution factor can be calculated. Resolution factors approaching 1.5 (baseline resolution) are desired.
