I ordered 10 x 10ml vials for fibroblast culture work. My first endeavor in culture domain. What are the storage conditions for DMSO of this grade? This arrived in plain cardboard box at room temperature.
1 answer-
DMSO is hygroscopic and light-sensitive. The storage container must protect from light and moisture uptake. Since this DMSO is sterile-filtered and intended for cell culture applications, the storage containers must also be sterile and endotoxin-free. It is recommended to purge aliquots with inert gas and store them in a compatible, tightly sealed container, at a cool storage area, such as 4°C. DMSO is not compatible with many types of plastics, so it is advisable to store it in appropriate amber glass vials for long-term storage. Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet and the Product Information Sheet for compatibility of DMSO with various materials and for further details.

I ordered 10 ml glass vials, used 7 ml, Can I store it in centrifuge tubes? For how long can I use that?
1 answer-
It may be best to store DMSO in amber glass vials for long term storage, as this compound is not compatible with many types of plastics. The compatibility of DMSO with various materials is listed below:
Compatible: LDPE, HDPE, polypropylene, PPCO(polypropylene copolymer), polymethylpentene, nylon, teflon FEP
Moderately compatible: polystyrene, ECTFE/ETFE
Incompatible: polysulfone, flexible and rigid PVC tubing, polycarbonateNote that DMSO is hygroscopic and light sensitive. The storage container selected must offer protection from light and moisture uptake. The product is assigned a firm expiration date. Please refer to the lot specific Certificate of Analysis to assume the material is within the expected shelf life.
