General description

Sulforhodamine B (also known as SRB, kiton rhodamine B, lissamine rhodamine B, or sulphorhodamine B) is a bright-pink anionic, aminoxanthene dye carrying two sulfonate substituents.

Application

Sulforhodamine B (SRB) is known for use in SRB assay for the determination of in vitro cytotoxicity through staining and the observation of live cells, proliferation and drug screening.

It has been used in the SRB assay to evaluate the effect of mouthwashes on protein content in primary cultures of human fibroblasts.

It is also suitable as a microscopic tracer for the assessment of blood-brain barrier integrity by post mortem inspection of frozen sections. SRB is useful as a caries detector dye with subsequent inspection of histological material.

Most methods to increase transdermal drug delivery focus on increasing stratum corneum permeability, without addressing the need to increase permeability of viable epidermis. Here, we assess the hypothesis that viable epidermis offers a significant permeability barrier that becomes rate limiting

The mechanisms of lung repair and fibrosis in the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are poorly known. Since the role of WNT/β-catenin signaling appears to be central to lung healing and fibrosis, we hypothesized that this pathway is activated very
