Application
- Titanium alloy hydride powder by the reduction of upgraded titania slag (UGS) under hydrogen atmosphere.
- Ultrafine metallic iron (bcc-Fe) powders from hematite (α-Fe2O3) by ball-milling process.
It can also be used as a reducing agent in ruthenium(III) complex catalyzed atom-transfer radical addition (ATRA) and cyclization (ATRC) reactions. Magnesium does not generate free radicals but it generates and regenerates the catalytically active ruthenium(II) species.
