MAMDC2 (MAM domain containing 2) is located at chromosome locus 9q21. It is expressed in early embryonic cells. Mutation in MAMDC2 causes a multiple congenital anomaly/mental retardation syndrome, Kabuki syndrome (KS, OMIM 147920), also known as Niikawa-Kuroki syndrome, characterized by distinct facial appearance.
