Tenascin-C (TNC) is an extracellular matrix protein that is expressed at low levels in normal adult tissue but is highly expressed around many tumors including ovarian tumors. Expression of this gene is induced by growth factors as well as mechanical strain in fibroblast. It is up-regulated within glioma tissues and cultured glioma cell lines. TNC possesses a multi-modular structure with a variety of functional properties.
