Anti-OR1D2 antibody detects endogenous levels of total OR1D2 protein.
The OR1D2 (olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily D member 2) gene is located on human chromosome 17p13.3. The gene is considered as the first olfactory receptor expressed in the nose. It is also found to be expressed in spermatozoa. The encoded protein is a member of G protein-coupled receptor superfamily and exists as a homo-oligomer.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human OR1D2.
Immunogen Range: 201-250
Biochem/physiol Actions
The protein encoded by OR1D2 (olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily D member 2) gene takes part in the process of fertilization by mediating the communication between the sperm and egg via chemotaxis. Sperm expressing OR1D2 is known to migrate toward odorant ligands such as lilial, floralozone and bourgeonal.

Olfactory receptor (OR) expression is also present in the sperm cells and could mediate sperm chemotaxis. OR1D2 was the first OR expressed in the testis demonstrated to be involved in chemotaxis and to be expressed also in the nose with

Although it has been known for some time that olfactory receptors (ORs) reside in spermatozoa, the function of these ORs is unknown. Here, we identified, cloned, and functionally expressed a previously undescribed human testicular OR, hOR17-4. With the use of

Although understanding of the olfactory system has progressed at the level of downstream receptor signaling and the wiring of olfactory neurons, the system remains poorly understood at the molecular level of the receptors and their interaction with and recognition of

G-protein-coupled receptor homo-oligomerization has been increasingly reported. However, little is known regarding the relationship between activation of the receptor and its association/conformational states. The mammalian olfactory receptors (ORs) belong to the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. In this study, the homo-oligomerization
