General description

Asunaprevir is a competitive inhibitor of HCV NS3/4A protease which act by inhibiting the protease activity of the NS3/4A enzyme of the hepatitis C virus.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Asunaprevir is a direct acting antiviral agent that inhibits the NS3/4A protease of the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Inhibition of the NS3/4A protease prevents viral replication and leads to the clearance of HCV from the body. Asunaprevir is active again viruses.
