General description

Native plasminogen (EACA- and lysine-free) from human plasma. Plasminogen is a single chain glycoprotein found in normal plasma at ~12 mg per deciliter, and is the inactive precursor of the serine protease plasmin.
Native plasminogen (EACA- and lysine-free) from human plasma. Single chain glycoprotein containing 790 amino acid residues. Found in normal plasma at about 12 mg/100 ml. Inactive precursor of the serine protease plasmin. It is converted to the active protease by cleavage at Arg560.

Warning

Toxicity: Irritant (B)

Unit Definition

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will hydrolyze 1 µmol of N-tosyl-Gly-Pro-Lys-pNA per min at 25°C, pH 7.8.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 20 mM sodium phosphate buffer, 10 mg D-mannitol, 10 mg NaCl.

Preparation Note

Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.

Reconstitution

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C) for long-term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage. Stock solutions are stable for at least 1 week at 4°C or for 1-2 months at -20°C.
