General description

Pyridoxine hydrochloride is a water soluble vitamin. It is available through dietary sources like, meat, fish, nuts, vegetables and fruits.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Pyridoxine/vitamin B6 is implicated in cellular metabolism, fatty acid biosynthesis, amino acid biosynthesis and catabolism. It is also implicated in the production of neurotransmitters, chlorophyll and plant hormones. Pyridoxine acts as a cofactor for several biochemical reactions. Pyridoxine deficiency is associated with peripheral neuropathy. Pyridoxine hydrochloride is available in parenteral and oral formulations.
