Application

Rabbit Serum has been used as a supplement in BSK-H medium to study the chemotactic migration of spirochetes. It has also been used as a supplement in BSK-H medium for isolation of Borrelia spirochetes from skin.
Selected for ability to support growth of Borrelia burgdorferi in BSK-H medium (B3528). Recommended for use at 6 ml/100 mL in B3528.

The migration of Lyme disease spirochetes (Borrelia burgdorferi) toward salivary gland extracts (SGEs) of vector ticks was determined by a modified U-tube chemotaxis assay. Responses of cultured spirochetes to the SGEs were measured by dark-field microscopy at intervals after the

Borrelia garinii spirochete was detected for the first time in Ixodes ovatus tick ectoparasitized on stray cat in Taiwan. The genetic identity of this detected spirochete was determined by analyzing the gene sequence amplified by genospecies-specific polymerase chain reaction assays

It is widely believed that innate immune responses to Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) are primarily triggered by the spirochete's outer membrane lipoproteins signaling through cell surface TLR1/2. We recently challenged this notion by demonstrating that phagocytosis of live Bb by peripheral
