General description

2-Propanol is used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries as a solvent and chemical intermediate. Due to its properties, such as low toxicity, low boiling point, good solubility, and rapid evaporation rate, it is a highly versatile solvent. IPA is miscible in many solvents, including water, ethanol, ethyl acetate, methyl-tert-butyl ether, dichloromethane, toluene, chloroform, and benzene.

Application

2-Propanol can be used as a:
  • Component in a binary mixture for the determination of vapor-liquid equilibrium data.
  • Disinfectant in research labs.
