Gene Information

human ... PTK2B(2185)

General description

Protein tyrosine kinase 2 β (PTK2B) is a member of the focal adhesion kinase family which is expressed in the brain. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 8.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human PYK2.

Immunogen Range: 546-595

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protein tyrosine kinase 2 β (PTK2B) takes part in the β2-mediated signaling pathway and activates mitogen activated protein kinase pathway. The protein has been shown to be upregulated in many tumors. PTK2B also has a role in cell proliferation and migration. It regulates ion channels which are induced by calcium.

Integrin engagement on lymphocytes initiates "outside-in" signaling that is required for cytoskeleton remodeling and the formation of the synaptic interface. However, the mechanism by which the "outside-in" signal contributes to receptor-mediated intracellular signaling that regulates the kinetics of granule delivery
