General description

PKCι (protein kinase C ι) belongs to the protein kinase C family.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protein kinase C ι (PKCι) is involved in Ras signaling. In colonic epithelium, it is an important regulator of oncogenic Ras. Transgenic mice which are constitutively expressing PKCι are at high risk of carcinogen-mediated colon carcinogenesis.

Physical form

Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

Protein kinase C iota (PKCiota) has been implicated in Ras signaling, however, a role for PKCiota in oncogenic Ras-mediated transformation has not been established. Here, we show that PKCiota is a critical downstream effector of oncogenic Ras in the colonic
