General description

Phosphatidylcholines (PCs) are amphipathic molecules. PC accounts for approximately 40–50% of the total cellular phospholipids. They are usually located on the outer leaflets of the biological membrane bilayer.
The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis.

Application

15:0 PC (1,2-dipentadecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) may be used to prepare giant unilamellar lipid vesicles (GUVs). It has been used as an internal standard for lipidomics analysis in BXD liver samples and plasma samples.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) may play a vital role in the signaling of neuronal differentiation.
