General description

The gene EDEM3 (ER degradation enhancing α-mannosidase like protein 3) is mapped to human chromosome 1q25.3. The encoded protein belongs to the G47 hydrolase family and is present in the endoplasmic reticulum lumen.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

EDEM3 (ER degradation enhancing α-mannosidase like protein 3) is a key player in the ERAD (endoplasmic reticulum associated protein degradation) pathway. It is required for removing misfolded glycoproteins from the endoplasmic reticulum.
