General description

Adenosine receptors, a class of purinergic G-protein coupled receptors with adenosine as endogenous ligands mediate several receptor subtype-specific physiological processes that include cardiac rate, smooth muscle tone, platelet aggregation, inflammation, cell growth and death, and neurotransmission. The activity of A2A adenosine receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. It is abundant in basal ganglia, vasculature and platelets and it is a major target of caffeine. Adenosine receptor A2A-R contributes to motoneuron survival by transactivating the tyrosine kinase receptor TrkB and may suggest a new strategy for using this mechanism in neurodegenerative diseases.

Specificity

Cross-reactivity with guinea pig also reported.
This antibody recognizes adenosine receptor A2A, Mr 43 kDa.

Immunogen

6His-tagged full-length human recombinant A2A receptor. Epitope mapped to SQPLPGER in the third intracellular loop. Clone 7F6-G5-A2.

Application

Anti-Adenosine Receptor A2a Antibody, clone 7F6-G5-A2 is an antibody against Adenosine Receptor A2a clone 7F6-G5-A2 for use in FC, IH & WB.
Immunohistochemistry: 1 μg/mL of a previous lot detected Adenosine Receptor A2A in paraformaldehyde-fixed mouse brain striatal sections. Not detected in Adenosine Receptor A2A knockout mice.

FACS Analysis: A previous lot of this antibody has been reported by an independent laboratory to detect Adenosine Receptor A2A in transfected HEK293 cells (Koshiba, M., 1999).
