Gene Information

human ... SLIT2(9353)

General description

Slit homolog 2 protein (UniProt O94813; also known as Slit-2, Slit2) is encoded by the SLIT2 (also known as SLIL3) gene (Gene ID 9353) in human. Slit proteins are essential for midline guidance in the forebrain where they act as repulsive signal preventing inappropriate midline crossing by axons projecting from the olfactory bulb. Slit-2 acts as molecular guidance cue in cellular migration and its function appears to be mediated by interaction with roundabout homolog receptors. During neural development it is involved in axonal navigation at the ventral midline of the neural tube and projection of axons to different regions. In the developing visual system it appears to function as repellent for retinal ganglion axons by providing a repulsion that directs these axons along their appropriate paths prior to, and after passage through, the optic chiasm. Specificity

This polyclonal antibody targets region within the CTCK domain (a.a. 1453-1528) ane will therefore react with uncleaved Slit-2 and cleaved Slit-2 C-product (a.a. 1122-1529), but not the cleaved N-product (a.a. 31-1121).

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to a sequence within the CTCK domain of human Slit-2.

Application

Anti-Slit2, C-term, Cat. No. AB5701-I, is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody that targets Slit2 and has been tested in Western Blotting.
