General description

16:1(n7) Coenzyme A or palmitoleoyl Coenzyme A is a derivative of palmitoleic acid. It is a key monounsaturated fatty acid present in cutaneous lipids. It is produced by the insertion of the first cis-double bond at the Δ9-position of palmitoleic acid by Δ9-desaturase.

Biochem/physiol Actions

16:1 (n7) Coenzyme A or palmitoleoyl Coenzyme A has been used as a substrate for 4′-phosphopantetheinyl transferase or Sfp transferase from Bacillus subtilis to produce palmitoleoyl- acyl carrier protein (ACP).

The skin is the single largest organ in humans, serving as a major barrier to infection, water loss, and abrasion. The functional diversity of skin requires the synthesis of large amounts of lipids, such as triglycerides, wax esters, squalene, ceramides

Acyl carrier proteins (ACPs) are the scaffolds for fatty acid biosynthesis in living systems, rendering them essential to a comprehensive understanding of lipid metabolism. However, accurate quantitative methods to assess individual acyl-ACPs do not exist. We developed a robust method
