Biochem/physiol Actions

Glucose-UDP, or UDP-Glucose, is a nucleotide sugar that plays a key role in carbohydrate metabolism. UDP-Glucose is a precursor to glycogen and a key substrate for glycosyltransferases, such as Toxins A and B from Clostridium difficile. Fluorescent analogs of UDP-Glucose can be used for studying glucosyltransferases and clostridial toxins. This fluorescein UDP-Glucose derivative has spectral properties identical to those of FITC conjugates. Compared to SMB00284, this UDP-Glucose derivative has a much shorter spacer between the fluorophore and UDP moiety.
