General description

Hematoxylin solution according to Delafield is a naturally ripened alum hematoxylin with potassium alum or ammonium alum as the mordant. It is used when the counterstain doesn′t possess any acid content in it. It is suitable to be used as a nuclear stain with eosin.

Application

Hematoxylin solution according to Delafield has been used to stain the nuclei of different sections of adipose tissue for its histochemical analysis. It is suitable for staining thick or thin blood films. It is also frequently used to stain and study the visibility of microfilariae.
