General description
Barium Carbonate (BaCO3) is one of the commercially important barium compounds. It is widely used in ceramics, paints, enamels, plastics, etc. It is particularly of interest in dental and lighting applications.
Application
Barium carbonate (BaCO3) can be used as a starting material to prepare:
- SiO2-BaO composites for use as inorganic filler materials in dental composite resins
- silicate-containing ceramic glasses for dental applications
- commercial phosphors for solid-state lighting (SSL) applications, especially light-emitting diodes (LEDs)
