General description

CARM1 (coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1) is an arginine N-methyltransferase that catalyzes the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to arginine residues within proteins. CARM1 targets include methylation of histone H3 at Arg17 and p300 at Arg2142. CARM1 is recruited to promoters upon gene activation together with histone acetyltransferases from the p300 and p160 families. During monocyte inflammatory stimulation, CARM1 acts together with p300 as a coactivator for NF-kB. It is responsible for moving cells toward the inner cell mass in developing blastocysts. CARM1 also plays an important role in androgen receptors and may play a role in prostate cancer progression.

Specificity

Recognizes CARM1, Mr ~60 kDa.

Immunogen

Epitope: a.a. 595-608
KLH-conjugated, synthetic peptide containing the sequence (CSPMSIPTNTMHYGS), corresponding to a.a. 595-608 of human CARM1.

Application

Anti-CARM1 Antibody is a rabbit polyclonal antibody for detection of CARM1 also known as Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 4, coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1 & has been validated in WB.
Western Blot Analysis:
A 1 μg/mL dilution of this lot detected CARM1 in HeLa nuclear extracts. (Figure A).
