Direct PCR — Extract-N-Amp™ PCR Master Mix

What is direct PCR?

Direct PCR is a method to directly amplify DNA from plant, blood, and tissue without the need for traditional DNA extraction and DNA purification steps. With the removal of often laborious and time-consuming DNA isolation steps, direct PCR kits enable scientists to save both resources in the lab and time at the bench. Explore the features and benefits of our direct PCR kits, Extract-N-Amp™ PCR master mix reagents, and discover additional resources and protocols for your plant, blood, and tissue DNA amplification workflow needs.

Extract-N-Amp™ Direct PCR Product Guide

Leveraging the robust benefits of hot start PCR technology, Extract-N-Amp™ PCR kits are the world’s first integrated extraction and amplification process for rapid blood, tissue, and plant assays. Eliminate the need for columns or long enzymatic sample purification with this simple “lyse & go” method for PCR. Our kits include all the reagents, proprietary buffers, and enzymes needed to rapidly extract and amplify targets of interest from a variety of cells and tissues.

Extract-N-Amp™ PCR technology eliminates the need for long enzymatic digestions or homogenization by incorporating a novel extraction method. The kits also include a specially formulated hot start PCR ReadyMix for amplification directly from the extract. The PCR ReadyMix comes in two formulations: Extract-N-Amp™ PCR ReadyMix and REDExtract-N-Amp™ PCR ReadyMix.

REDExtract-N-Amp™ Direct PCR ReadyMix

The REDExtract-N-Amp™ PCR ReadyMix contains an inert dye that acts as a tracking dye and allows for convenient loading of PCR reaction onto agarose gels for analysis. REDExtract-N-Amp™ PCR ReadyMix is suitable for multiple routine applications, including genotyping, transgene detection, knockout analysis, and sequencing. In a typical procedure, genomic DNA is extracted from a sample that has been incubated in preparation solution and extraction solution at room temperature. The sample is heated and then mixed with a third solution to neutralize inhibitory substances prior to PCR. A portion of the DNA extract is then added to a PCR reaction containing primers and the ReadyMix included in the kit. The remainder of the DNA can be refrigerated for convenient storage.
