Ferritin heavy chain (UniProt: P02794; also known as EC:1.16.3.1, Ferritin H subunit, Cell proliferation-inducing gene 15 protein) is encoded by the FTH1 (also known as FTH, FTHL6, OK/SW-cl.84, PIG15) gene (Gene ID: 2495) in human. Ferritin is an oligomeric (24 oligomers) protein that is widely expressed and is found predominantly in the liver in hepatocytes. It is also detected in spleen, skeletal muscles, and bone marrow. It stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form and releases it in a controlled manner. Hence, it acts as a buffer against iron deficiency and iron overload. It prevents free iron concentrations from increasing in the cytosolic and nuclear compartments. Iron is taken up in the ferrous form and deposited as ferric hydroxides after oxidation. Ferritin also mediates iron uptake in capsule cells of the developing kidney. It is present in two types of subunits: The light (L) chain and heavy (H) chain. Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
