Gene Information

rabbit ... Gjd2(100341036)

Specificity

Recognizes perch Connexin 35. Does not cross-react with Connexin 34.7, a very closely related protein. Also recognizes rabbit and macaque Connexin 36, the gene homologue of Connexin 35. Labels gap junctions in retinas of perch, rabbit and macaque in immunohistochemistry.

Application

Detect Connexin 35/36 using this Anti-Connexin 35/36 Antibody, clone 8F6.2 validated for use in IH.

Retinal degeneration (RD) encompasses a family of diseases that lead to photoreceptor death and visual impairment. Visual decline due to photoreceptor cell loss is further compromised by emerging spontaneous hyperactivity in inner retinal cells. This aberrant activity acts as a

Neural network function is based upon the patterns and types of connections made between neurons. Neuronal synapses are adhesions specialized for communication and they come in two types, chemical and electrical. Communication at chemical synapses occurs via neurotransmitter release whereas

The present study tested the hypothesis that connexin-36 (Cx36) and gap junctions between photoreceptor cells contribute to the circadian rhythm of the photopic electroretinogram (ERG) b-wave amplitude. Cone-specific disruption of Cx36 was obtained in mice with a floxed Gjd2 gene

Combined confocal microscopy and freeze-fracture replica immunogold labeling (FRIL) were used to examine the connexin identity at electrical synapses in goldfish brain and rat retina, and to test for "co-localization" vs. "close proximity" of connexins to other functionally interacting proteins
