Application
2-Methyl-2-hexanol was used in the preparation of esterified phenol. It is used to study the effect of organic solvent on the equillibrium of lipase-catalyzed esterification of glycerol and decanoic acid.
2-Methyl-2-hexanol was used to study the mass accommodation coefficient (α) on 1-methylnaphthalene as a function of temperature (267 K to 298 K) for gas-phase of the product.

Organic compounds are a significant component of tropospheric aerosols. In the present study, 1-methylnaphthalene was selected as a surrogate for aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) found in tropospheric aerosols. Mass accommodation coefficients (alpha) on 1-methylnaphthalene were determined as a function of temperature

The effect of organic solvents on the equilibrium position of lipase-catalyzed esterification of glycerol and decanoic acid has been investigated. The reaction is carried out in an aqueous-organic two-phase system. In polar solvents, high mole fractions of monoacylglycerol and low
