Biochem/physiol Actions

Wnt gene family members, including Wnt-1 through Wnt-10, play a key role in regulating cellular growth and differentiation. These proteins have been implicated in oncogenesis and in several developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis. Wnt family member-2 (Wnt-2) has a role in activating β-catenin. It has been shown to have a role in cardiogenesis. The protein is overexpressed in tumors and cancers.
