Gene Information

General description

p27 is a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor which regulates progression from G1 to S phase by binding and inhibiting cyclin-dependent kinases. Low p27 expression has been associated with unfavorable prognosis in renal cell carcinoma, colon carcinoma, small breast carcinomas, non-small-cell lung carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, multiple myeloma, lymph node metastases in Papillary carcinoma of the Thyroid, and more aggressive phenotype in carcinoma of the cervix.
