General description

Cortactin is cytoskeleton protein that facilitates assembly of cortical actin. Cortactin is widely expressed in most adherent cells and is a prominent substrate of protein-tyrosine kinase Src in vivo and in vitro. The protein sequence of cortactin contains multiple amino-terminal tandem repeats of a unique 37-amino acid sequence, which associates with actin, and a Src homology 3 domain at the carboxyl terminus.

Specificity

The antibody detects the 80-85 kDa protein of cortactin.

Immunogen

Phosphorylated cortactin (Tyr466) synthetic peptide corresponding to mouse amino acid residues around tyrosine 466 (tyrosine 470 in the human sequence).

This Anti-Cortactin Antibody, phospho-specific [Tyr466] is validated for use in WB for the detection of Cortactin.

Physical form

Antibody is cross-adsorbed to nonphospho-peptide corresponding to the site of phosphorylation and preadsorbed with phosphopeptides to cortactin tyrosine 421 and 482 to remove cross-reactivity then affinity purified using phosphorylated cortactin (Tyr466) peptide. Antibody is supplied in phosphate-buffered saline (no Ca2+, no Mg2+), pH 7.3, containing 1 mg/ml BSA, and 0.05% sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Maintain at -20°C for up to one year from date of receipt. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.

Leishmania secretes over 151 proteins during in vitro cultivation. Cellular functions of one such novel protein: mevalonate kinase is discussed here; signifying its importance in Leishmania infection. Visceral Leishmaniasis is a persistent infection, caused by Leishmania donovani in Indian subcontinent.
