Gene Information

human ... WNK4(65266)

General description

WNK4 is a serine-threonine protein kinase that is commonly expressed in the distal nephron. Mutations in WNK1 and WNK4 cause pseudohypoaldosteronism type II, which causes hypertension, hyperkalemia, hyperchloremia and metabolic acidosis. WNK4 has been shown to decrease Na-Cl cotransporter activity and the potassium channel by removing it from the cell surface. It is thought that activating WNK4 inhibits the activity of WNK1. WNK4 has been shown to play a role in regulating blood pressure in addition to potassium homeostasis.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes WNK4 at the C-terminus.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human WNK4 at the C-terminus.

Application

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: 1:1,000 dilution from a previous lot detected WNK4 in normal human kidney tissue.
