General description

This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantiation of morphine levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, pain prescription monitoring, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, or isotope dilution methods. Morphine is a very potent opiate analgesic drug used to relieve both acute and chronic severe pain. Sold under trade names including MS Contin®, Kadian®, Oramorph®, and Roxanol, morphine is also a commonly abused recreational drug due to its widespread availability and high potential for addiction.

Application

  • Forensic toxicology: Morphine-D₆ is utilized as an internal standard in forensic toxicology, enhancing the accuracy of morphine quantitation in complex matrices like clavicle bone. This application is crucial for legal and forensic investigations, providing reliable data for court cases (Vardakou et al., 2014).

  • Doping control: The deuterated morphine standard is essential for doping control, specifically in gas chromatography with mass-selective detection. It ensures precision in detecting morphine use among athletes, contributing to fair sports practices and compliance with anti-doping regulations (Savel′eva et al., 2010).
