Gene Information

human ... CENPB(1059)

General description

Centromere protein B (CENPB) is a dimeric protein, localized to the centromeric chromatin. It possesses a DNA-binding activity. The protein has a DNA-binding domain at the amino-terminal region and a dimerization domain at the carboxy-terminal region. The subunits of CENPB have a molecular weight of 80kDa. The gene encoding CENPB is localized on human chromosome 20.

Immunogen

CENPB (AAH53847.1, 1 a.a. ~ 599 a.a) full-length human protein.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Centromere protein B (CENPB) has a role in assembly of the components of the centromere. It binds to the 17-base pair sequence called the CENP-B box on the DNA.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4
