General description

Devarda′s alloy is a reducing agent, and has found application in being used to reduce NO3--N, or NO2--N, into NH4+-N, thereby finding functionality in being used for total nitrogen determination.

Application

Devarda′s alloy was used to study, its effects as a reducing agent on Cp2TiCl-catalyzed living radical polymerization of styrene, which was initiated by epoxide radical ring opening.
Reducing agent used for the determination of total nitrogen by the method of Kjeldahl. Reagent used for the reduction of alkaline solutions of chlorate to chloride
