General description
Polyphosphoric acid is a hygroscopic, clear and viscous liquid. It has been synthesized by reacting phosphoric acid with phosphorus (V) oxide. It is a moderately strong mineral acid with a wide range of applications. PPA may be used in bone regeneration by treating titanium (Ti) implants.
Application
Polyphosphoric acid may be used in the following processes:
- Functionalize mesoporous silica–polymer nanocomposites (SBA/PS).
- As a catalyst in the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones.
- As a dehydrating agent and phosphorus source in the synthesis of Si, P co-doped carbon (SiPDC) materials.
- As a catalyst and absorbent of ammonia during the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC).
- As a solvent in the synthesis of hyperbranched polybenzoxazoles (HBPBOs).
