Gene Information

human ... EFNB2(1948)

General description

EFNB2 (ephrin B2) is a membrane-bound molecule , that is located on human chromosome 13q33.

Immunogen

Peptide sequence around aa. 328-332 (N-I-Y-Y-K), according to the protein EFNB2.

Biochem/physiol Actions

EFNB2 (ephrin B2) regulates the development of arterial endothelial cell. It also modulates the movement and adherence of vascular smooth muscle cells and pericytes to the extending arterial endothelial cell tubes. Overexpression of EFNB2 results in low tumor stage and elevated expression of TrkA in neuroblastomas. It controls the growth of thymocyte and differentiation of peripheral T cell. It is required for interleukin-6 (IL-6) signaling. It also modulates the antiviral immune responses.

Target description

Ephrin-B2 encodes a member of the ephrin (EPH) family. The ephrins and EPH-related receptors comprise the largest subfamily of receptor protein-tyrosine kinases and have been implicated in mediating developmental events, especially in the nervous system and in erythropoiesis. Based on their structures and sequence relationships, ephrins are divided into the ephrin-A (EFNA) class, which are anchored to the membrane by a lycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage, and the ephrin-B (EFNB) class, which are transmembrane proteins. This gene encodes an EFNB class ephrin which binds to the EPHB4 and EPHA3 receptors.

Although Eph-ephrin signalling has been implicated in the migration of cranial neural crest (CNC) cells, it is still unclear how ephrinB transduces signals regulating this event. We provide evidence that TBC1d24, a putative Rab35-GTPase activating protein (Rab35 GAP), complexes with
