General description

A nitroxyl anion (NO) donor that spontaneously dissociates in a pH dependent first order process to liberate 0.54 moles of NO per mole of the parent compound. Half-life (t½) in 100 mM phosphate buffer, pH 7.4 is 2.3 minutes at 37°C. Decomposition is nearly instantaneous at pH 5.0.
A nitroxyl anion (NO-) donor that spontaneously, in the presence of oxygen and Cu2+ and Fe3+, dissociates in a pH-dependent, first-order process to liberate 0.54 moles of NO per mole of the parent compound. Half-life (t½) of NO release = 2.3 min. (in 100 mM phosphate buffer, pH 7.4 at 37°C). Induces relaxation of norepinephrine-constricted rabbit aorta (EC50 = 590 nM). Angeli′s Salt produces nitroxyl anion (NO-) that can be converted to NO in the presence of heme.
