Description générale

Pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase isozyme 2 (PDK2) belongs to the family of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinases. It localizes in the mitochondrion and is mainly expressed in heart and skeletal muscles.

Application

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase isozyme 2 (PDK2) controls enzymatic activity of pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) complex by phosphorylation. When PDK2 phosphorylates PDH, it leads to the inactivation of its enzymatic activity.
