General description
Flutolanil is a systemic amide fungicide with curative and protective action, belonging to the chemical class of phenylbenzamide. It is widely used in crops, fruits, vegetables, and some ornamentals to control diseases caused by basidiomycetes. It is effective against rice sheath blight, wheat sharp eyespot, potato stem canker, black scurf, peanut stem rot, tall fescue brown patch caused by Rhizoctonia, and other plant diseases caused by Corticium, Typhula, and Gymnosporangium. Flutolanil acts by inhibiting the synthesis of succinate dehydrogenase (SDH), in mitochondrial complex II, disrupting the Krebs cycle and the mitochondrial electron transport chain.
According to Regulation (EC) 1107/2009 (repealing 91/414/EEC) flutolanil is approved for use in European Union (EU). The maximum residue level (MRL) for flutolanil, following Reg. (EU) 2021/2202, is set from 0.01 mg/kg to 2 mg/kg for products of plant and animal origin.
Application
- Examine the reproductive endpoints on the gonad endocrine system of the parental zebrafish after chronic exposure to different concentrations of flutolanil for 60 days
- Spectroscopic analysis of acetamiprid, flutolanil, and etofenprox residues extracted from tomato fruits
- Development and validation of two robust chromatographic methods for estimation of tomatoes specific acetamiprid, flutolanil, and etofenprox residues on fruits before food processing and serving
- To investigate the developmental toxicity and the potential mechanism of thyroid endocrine disruption induced by flutolanil in zebrafish embryos based on 1H NMR metabolomics analysis
- To develop a sensitive LC-MS/MS analytical method for the determination of residual flutolanil and its principal metabolites and conjugates, in livestock and seafood products
