General description

Folliculin (FLCN) is a protein with many possible roles. Folliculin may play a role in the pathogenesis of kidney cancer through its association with an inherited disorder of the hair follicle (fibrofolliculomas). But, Folliculin (FLCN) may be a tumor suppressor, however it is also involved in the generation of colorectal tumorigenesis and renal cell carcinoma, and finally Folliculin (FLCN) might be involved in energy and/or nutrient sensing through the AMPK and mTOR signaling pathways. Mutations of Folliculin (FLCN) give rise to Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome, a rare autosomal dominant genodermatosis characterized by hair follicle hamartomas (fibrofolliculomas), kidney tumors, and spontaneous pneumothorax disorders. Folliculin (FLCN) is widely expressed and localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus depending upon the conditions in both the fetus and the adult.

Immunogen

GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to human Folliculin (FLCN).

Application
